Needlemans commit $15 million to boost drug discovery

A generous gift from longtime benefactors of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis establishes the Needleman Program for Innovation and Commercialization. For a select number of projects, the new program will provide funding to help move promising therapeutics towards the stage where the Food and Drug Administration grants investigational new drug (IND) status. The program is now accepting proposals through March 15th (guidelines below).

WashU’s economic impact totals $8.8 billion

Washington University in St. Louis continues to play a vital role in the local economy, providing jobs, supporting local businesses and drawing millions in research dollars to the region. During fiscal year 2023 which concluded on June 30, the university’s direct and indirect contributions to the St. Louis economy totaled $8.8 billion. WashU also supported a total of 54,380 jobs in the region.
