Washington Magazine recently published a story on Cortex, St. Louis’ flourishing technology district.
In 2002, Washington University in St. Louis furthered it’s ongoing commitment to innovation & entrepreneurship in the St. Louis region by investing $15 million to transform a blighted industrial area into a thriving and vibrant innovation district. Other St. Louis institutions joined WashU, including BJC HealthCare, the Missouri Botanical Garden, Saint Louis University and the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
The Cortex Innovation Community is now home to over 400 companies, including Boeing and Square, and has brought more than 5,800 jobs and $342 million in direct payroll to the region. It also has resources for budding entrepreneurs such as Venture Cafe and Innovation Hall.
