Equalize 2020, a first-of-its-kind pitch event for female faculty startup founders, took place June 26, with hundreds of people from across the country logging into the session via Zoom.
A dozen finalists received mentoring sessions with venture capitalists and others in the innovation space in the months before the event. Then, all of the female faculty members and entrepreneurs pitched their tech and startups to a panel of judges. Four were selected as the competition’s overall winners. Read more about them here.
Equalize 2020 was designed to help close the funding gap for female startup founders. Washington University’s Office of Technology Management and Osage University Partners hosted the event. Future Equalize events, to further bolster support for female faculty founders, are in the works.
