IDEA Labs, founded in 2013 at Washington University in St. Louis, brings together teams of medical, engineering and business students to solve medical and health care problems.
The company aims to teach entrepreneurship to students at the university level, offering them guidance, support and a place to work. In the company’s first three years, they have had teams go on to achieve $2.2 million in investments.
SciTech Now featured IDEA Labs on a recent episode along with one of the IDEA Labs teams, UroStat. The team developed a device that measures a hospital patient’s urine level in real time. The team includes Washington University general surgery resident Dr. Raphael Sun and biomedical engineering Ph.D. candidate Mrinal Pahwa.
