Sharing with a Purpose (SWAP), part of Washington University in St. Louis’ Student Entrepreneurial Program, has opened its Trading Post for the fall semester.
SWAP’s Trading Post is a reuse and exchange store located on the South 40 where people can donate, take and borrow items at no cost during the spring and fall semesters. SWAP’s operations are funded in part by annual events like Sale on the Swamp, which allows people to purchase gently used goods for their dorm rooms during move-in weekend.
Since its opening in September of 2012, the Trading Post has diverted around 4,456lb of items, signed up 481 members, and facilitated 2,121 exchanges of store items.
SWAP is offering a new collection of clothing, books, office and kitchen supplies as well as other free items. The store is open from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Gregg Storefronts (in between Beary Sweet Shoppe and Wash U Wash).
