More great ink for Washington University in St Louis inventors Jen and Jon Silva.

In a Women Love Tech article about AR mixed and virtual reality in healthcare, the husband and wife team are featured for their development of a hologram that visualizes a patient’s heart in the operating theatre.

Jennifer Silva, MD, is a pediatric electrophysiologist at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Her husband, Jonathan Silva, PhD, is an associate professor of biomedical engineering at the School of Engineering & Applied Science.

Their technology is designed to provide real-time information in 3D and a direct view of internal surgical tools, such as catheters, in the operating theatre. Holograms can improve accuracy when used during minimally invasive surgery to treat arrhythmias.
