May 2 –  MVA Power Pitch 2017

It’s not baseball, but it could be the most important pitch of the season for entrepreneurs who want to learn first-hand what potential investors expect from presenters. The Power Pitch program developed by MVF will feature mock presentations to actual investors by two start-up companies.

May 3 – 1 Million Cups

1 Million Cups is a free, weekly national program designed to educate, engage, and connect entrepreneurs. Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, 1MC is based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee.

May 3 – “Startup School” at the Skandalaris Center

Join the Skandalaris Center’s new interdisciplinary offering based on Y Combinator’s 10-week Startup School. Y Combinator is an esteemed Silicon Valley-based seed incubator that accelerates top startups. Their portfolio includes tech giants such as Airbnb, Dropbox, Reddit, and Weebly. This weekly, one-hour course is not mandatory, but a forum to ask their venture analysts questions and work with others. Please watch the weekly video before attending.

May 3 – Brazen Rally #noceilings

May 4 – Introduction to IBM Bluemix – Janus Choice

Bluemix is the latest cloud offering from IBM that is a platform as a service (PaaS) product that is based on Cloud Foundry, Open Stack, and other open technologies. It enables entrepreneurs and developers to quickly and easily create, deploy, and manage applications on the cloud. This session will give attendees an introduction to Bluemix and information on how to sign up to try it out for free.

Entrepreneurs who have cofounders get more seed funding, grow their ventures faster, and achieve more successful exits. Despite the many benefits of having a cofounder, many entrepreneurs struggle with this process. This event is designed to give entrepreneurs a chance to meet others who are also looking for a cofounder. Part 1 will begin with a 20-minute introduction to the “speed dating” event.
